Because I'm Drowsy

I'm not even going to make an excuse for the lack of posts, or mention how long it's been. It's all there in the history, taunting me. Never mind, fresh year, fresh look to the blog page, and fresh start!

Lots going on with BusyLizzy right now, so I'll go with the short, sweet and to the point posts so that I don't have to say, "I'm too busy." Despite my moniker, I really think that phrase is overworked (pun intended) these days, in general!

A big project right now is The Drowsy Chapperone with Orangeville Music Theatre. It has been a number of years since I performed with OMT and I'm looking forward to getting on stage with this talented cast!

Now, I don't normally post photos of myself with bottles of alcohol, but on a recent and rare date night with my husband, I decided to enjoy a craft beer from the menu. Sight unseen, never tried it before, and had no idea what the label would look like. Coincidence? Check out the poster for Drowsy Chaperone and see if you don't hear the theme from the Twighlight Zone going through your head! I know I did! 

And because I always need something on my hook or needles... 

Here is a 1920's style hat I made based on a free pattern available at Madres Hiperactivas. It has not been approved by the costume mistress yet, but I had a lovely purple cotton calling to me, and when I found out my costumes are to be in this colour range I couldn't resist making one!

May you overcome adversity, censorship, poverty and nihilism, as many of you will most certainly be obliged to do. May you be blessed with the talent and rigor to teach us about the beating of the human heart in all its complexity, and the humility and curiosity to make it your life's work. And may the best of you - for it will only be the best of you, and even then only in the rarest and briefest moments - succeed in framing that most basic of questions, "how do we live?" Godspeed."

BusyLizzy is living up to her name this week enjoying the outcome of a creative theatre project!

Creative Partners on Stage is a collaborative drama program between Community Living Dufferin and Theatre Orangeville. In this group, performers from our community celebrate their abilities on stage through a professionally supported production, while developing drama skills. I have had the pleasure and the privilege of directing this year's production, entitled "The Songs of Mary Poppins."

We began our rehearsals in September of 2011, and have had wonderful moments of joy and discovery! All along the way it is the process that has been the focus as this amazing group of individuals has developed their unique talents and voices in the “Spotlight Players.”

(Our sister group,"The Footlight Players" performed to delighted audiences in February!)

Here we are at our promotional preview at The Winchester Arms pub.

We did another promotional preview performance just this past Sunday at the Lord Dufferin Centre, and it was very well received. The residents were bopping along to the music. (Well, how can anyone NOT bop along... the tunes are definitely bop-worthy!)

Finally, we've had a bit of press..."Blue Girl" Sam Russell was interviewed live on Erin Radio, The Orangeville Citizen put us on the front page and we just appeared in the British Canadian (available at Blighty's in Orangeville) and hope to have a bit more before the show goes up on Mother's Day weekend!

Hi from BusyLizzy!

BusyLizzy here! I wear a lot of hats these days, in fact, I always have! After attending a workshop on blogging recently, I decided it might be a good idea to blog for BusyLizzy.

Speaking of hats, these are not hats, these are Barefoot Sandals. They are my most recent design, and are being modeled by my lovely daughter! These are one of 6 pairs (all a bit different, but with musical themed charms) that I created for Weait Music, to sell at an upcoming trade show. If anyone likes them, I can make some similar ones to order. Just ask!

I do a lot of things, and love them all. They are all a part of what makes me the woman I am:
